Agglutination tests

Bio-Rad’s Pastorex Strep agglutination tests are a family of rapid and sensitive agglutination tests that allow you to identify β-hemolytic streptococci from the Lancefield groups A, B, C, D, F and G.

Description

Bio-Rad’s Pastorex Strep agglutination tests are a family of rapid and sensitive agglutination tests that allow you to identify β-hemolytic streptococci from the Lancefield groups A, B, C, D, F and G.

The manual qualitative agglutination tests family intend to group streptococci based on to the Lancefield classification (A, groups B, C, D, F and G), obtained from suspected streptococci colonies grown on agar culture plates.

This helps diagnose any patient suffering from oral, genital or intestinal diseases such as pharyngitis, skin infections, puerperal sepsis or neonatal infections.

Identification is based on the type of hemolysis (β-hemolytic) surrounding the colonies grown on blood agar and the group-specific polyoside antigens detected on the cell wall.

Polyoside antigens are extracted from the cell wall and their presence is shown employing latex particles coated with homologous antibodies.
